Tyson Foods & Campus Compact Internship

Siouxland CARES would like to extend a special thank you to Tyson Foods & Campus Compact of Iowa and Minnesota for providing the grant funding to hire an intern this summer! Rocio De Leon joined our team in June and will continue to work on projects with us through the end of July.

Rocio is going into to her Junior year of college at Morningside University. She is majoring in Developmental & Counseling Psychology and minoring in Spanish. So far, she has been able to help with a number of projects, including the Sioux City Mayor’s Youth Commission Little Free Libraries, DEI Mobile Story Walk, Siouxland CARES Youth Survey, and South Sioux City Retailer Compliance Checks. She has also helped with the translation of educational materials for our Spanish-speaking community members.

We are so grateful to Tyson Foods & Campus Compact for providing this opportunity to bring a young person with such a big heart onto the team this summer. Thank you!

Rocio and SSCPD Officer Heinemann deliver letters to off-premise alcohol and tobacco retailers explaining the upcoming compliance checks.
